POSITION: Carpenter

REPORTS TO: Foreman

JOB SUMMARY: The Carpenter will be responsible for constructing, repairing frameworks, formworks and structures—such as stairways, doorframes, roofs, partitions, rafters, decks, docks, etc. and any other tasks requested by management.

Other Responsibilities will include:

§ Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully grasp requirements needed to complete tasks;

§ Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed;

§ Cut, shape and smooth lumber and other material (e.g. fiberglass) according to measurements

§ Build window frames, doors, staircases and frame buildings by using raw materials or pre-constructed items;

§ Lay out floorings, roofing’s or drywalls ensuring they are leveled and compatible;

§ Inspect places and conduct repairs or maintenance;

§ Work in a safe manner and report any safety and health issues to management;

§ Any other duties as assigned by management.

Position Requirements:

§ The applicant should be a well-rounded, highly skilled carpenter and have extensive construction industry knowledge and no less than five (5) years working experience as a qualified carpenter; Experience will need to be proven;

§ Must have:

• a high level of detail to carpentry skills;

• the ability to operate heavy machinery in order to complete tasks;

• the ability to meet deadlines and complete projects on schedule;

• the ability to build items such as furniture, staircases, kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, doors, railings, windows and shutters; also have the experience in the installation of these items;

• the ability to take on a variety of tasks and while working under pressure;

§ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – Capable of maintaining effective working relationships with staff at all levels;

§ A mature self-motivator who can work independently with minimum supervision;

§ Candidate must be able to meet the physical requirements of this position;

§ Must have own transportation;

§ Must be prepared to be called out at all hours.
